About Wade Stewart

[Blog]

I have been involved with computers since I was just 12 years old, growing up near Eugene, OR.  I bought my first computer in 1984.  I spent many hours exploring and playing games with my Commodore Vic-20.

Gaming was always a strong part of my computer use, but not just playing games.  In the early 90's I was heavily involved in doing network gaming with a game called Doom.  Getting computers to communicate with each other back then, especially early gaming, was extremely challenging.  It got me into the ground floor of networking, learning how computers communicate from the earliest days, and shaping the framework by which they communicate today.

Since then, I have moved on to more and more challenges, and eventually some of them I actually got paid for!

I worked for a company called Abracadata packaging software and eventually did some telephone technical support.  After that I began a long engagement with Bit-By-Bit computers; beginning as a technician/delivery driver, moving up to a Purchasing Agent, and finally moved to Chicago, IL where I was the Assistant Manager for that computer rental location.

I felt I'd mastered the technical support aspect when I moved on to Network Administration for Andersen Consulting, in Northbrook, IL.  My family yearned to return to the Pacific Northwest though, and we moved back to find our home in University Place, WA.  After a brief break, I once again worked for Andersen Consulting since a technician spot was available.  Again, I did very well in the position and soon became the Network Administrator for the Seattle office as Andersen Consulting became Accenture.

I had an opportunity to start my own consulting business in 2003 and then began River's Edge Enterprises.  Unfortunately this was the latter part of the "dot com bust" and the best REE could become at that time was a sideline business.

Since 2004 I have worked for BLRB Architects in Tacoma, WA.  BLRB is a small company in a niche market (public primary and secondary schools).  The fact it is a small business with a strong community ethic suits me very well and I have been happy to work here.

Please look at the Current Projects page for some of the work I'm doing at BLRB.  Additionally, you will find a list of accomplishments I have at BLRB Architects in my resume package below.
